Before you learn to drive you must have a provisional driving license. You can apply for your provisional driving license by going to your local post office and using the paper method. However many people prefer to do it online now as it is faster and easier. To apply for your provisional driving license you need to complete a D1 application form from the DVLA website. You will need to enter all the relevant details to confirm your identity. The cost of a provisional driving license is £34 when payed online or £43 when applying by post. Once you have applied for your provisional you will need to wait up to three weeks for it to arrive so make sure you order it nice and early before you want to learn to drive.
